About Us:

Built on Experience. Rooted in Community. Driven by Integrity.

On The Level Craftsmen was founded by James Goss with a simple goal in mind: provide honest, high-quality work backed by clear communication and real accountability.

Before launching On The Level Craftsmen, James built his career as a commercial renovation project manager in the Washington, D.C. area, overseeing tenant improvements, property upgrades, and construction projects in fast-paced, high-expectation environments. That experience shaped his approach to workmanship, project management, and professionalism — and continues to guide how every job is handled today.

Over time, James made the decision to bring that experience back home.

With strong roots in Frederick County, Maryland, he founded On The Level Craftsmen to serve local homeowners, property managers, and investors who value reliability, transparency, and long-term relationships.

Experience Backed by Education and Standards

James believes that good work starts with knowledge — and that continuing education is essential to doing the job right.

His background includes:

  • Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) Licensed Contractor

  • Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS)
Focused on safe, functional home modifications for aging homeowners and individuals with mobility needs

  • Formal Home Inspection Coursework
Providing a deeper understanding of building systems, moisture intrusion, safety concerns, and long-term maintenance

  • Commercial Real Estate Experience
Active involvement in commercial real estate and property management, offering insight into how properties operate, age, and perform over time

This combination allows On The Level Craftsmen to look beyond surface-level repairs and provide practical, long-term solutions that make sense for the property and the owner.

A Growing Team Built on Shared Values

Today, On The Level Craftsmen is supported by a growing team of skilled men and women who share the same commitment to quality, honesty, and transparency.

Every member of the team is aligned with the same core values:

  • Showing up when we say we will

  • Doing the work the right way

  • Communicating clearly and honestly

  • Treating every property with care and respect

Whether it’s a small repair or a larger project, our team approaches each job with pride and professionalism.

Invested in the Frederick Community

Community involvement is an important part of who we are.

James is an active member of the Rotary Club of Frederick, supporting local service initiatives and community projects. He also serves on the board of Second Chances Garage, an organization dedicated to helping individuals gain reliable transportation and new opportunities through workforce support.

That same commitment to service carries into every project we take on.
